Barnfinds – Fieldfind 2014 revisited soon for auction

I was contacted in 2014 by a Lady named Debbie who had found my advert in the Bargain pages, she told me about her partner Ivor who had collected a large amount of 70s -80s cars over many years, she was concerned about his deteriorating health and thought it was time to have a clear out in the field.

I drove down to Exeter to visit and see what was there, we met Debbie at the gate of the property, it was clear they were quite security conscious and they had had problems with people coming and pilfering bits and pieces over the years.

I met Ivor who was maybe in his late 60s, but I could tell he didn’t really want us there, nothing was for sale!
however on walking around with Debbie later on she confirmed that it all had to go as she was worried about being left to deal with it all alone in years to come, we had a great day with Debbie , she got on with my mom like a house on fire.

on parting I said I would work out a price to buy the lot.

I had £10,000 in my mind back in 2014 but before I could make an offer Debbie called me a few days later to tell me that Ivor had put his foot down and they we’re strictly NOT for sale.

I was gutted but slightly relieved as logistically it would have been a nightmare to bring back so many cars to the Midlands.

Debbie did say she would keep in touch.

2019 came and Debbie called to say that they were thinking of having an auction to sell off the cars.

once again it felt bitter sweet but before they could arrange anything Covid hit! Which set everything back again.

then on the evening of Friday 15 of May  I had a call from Debbie to say that Ivor had deteriorating health issues again, she said she would like it very much if I would visit them and advise on the way to sell the collection and to offer me any vehicles that I would be interested in before the sale.
