Bentley T1 drive find

On 18th February 2021 whilst we were still feeling the effects of COVID (restrictions wise) I noticed three Indian gentleman walking past my place, they had done this on a regular basis,  but I hadn’t seen them before the Pandemic, They would always take notice of what was going on here especially with the Bentley T’s, on this day I was outside and we exchanged pleasantries and got to talking about their fathers Bentley T 1 that they were looking to get restored, I arranged to go and have a look at the car to give them some idea what it would cost, they live less than a mile from me so it was an easy ask.

On arrival I could see that this car was In a very poor state, it was absolutely shot, any restoration work on the car would by far outweigh its finished value.

there had been a vinyl roof fitted some years back and it could be seen that there was a lack of preparation to the roof before it was fitted, the water got underneath and rotted the steel away badly.

I explained this to the gentleman’s son and he was quite disappointed, he said he thought he could get it done, as a parting gesture I offered to buy the car and valued it at £800.

I don’t think he was impressed with my offer so I left.

jump forward to 23rd November 2022 I was contacted by local Property tycoon and scrap yard owner Brian Smith, He said I know you’re the RR and Bentley man round here, I have a Bentley shadow if you’re interested?
I asked him to send me pictures and a price.

the pictures arrived and it was the car I had seen last year, the asking price was £1500!
I informed Brian that I knew the car and knew it was a bad example, I told him that I offered £800 for the car to the previous owner and that my offer would still be £800, nothing had changed with the car but that it would have only got worse.

a week or so went by.

Brian contacted me on 9th December 2022 to say come and collect the car, I had to confirm at the £800, he agreed, so on 12th December 2022 George and I went to collect her.
