Massive Bradford hoard of classic cars Barnfind
Today (21/09/23) We visited an old mill in Bradford with a view to purchase a collection of 56 cars.
I was called on Tuesday buy a representative of the son of the owner of this collection, I was asked to attend the property today at 1 pm.
George and I drove up to Lancashire from willenhall this morning, we set off from a chilly wet New invention at about 7:30 am, the motorway was busy but not slow or congested, my mind was recalling the pictures I had been sent on Tuesday and I was quite excited as to what awaited us.
we stopped off for a breakfast Mc Donald’s being the food of choice.
we eventually arrived at Kevin and David Medcalfs house in Bradford after some absolutely beautiful back road and mountain road views, Lancashire is such an amazingly picturesque county.
Dave showed us around his amazing collection of Rolls-Royce Jowets and minis and a lovely Austin 12/4.
kevin has a wonderful collection of Automobilia.
after the tour we set off for the Mills place, a 15 minute drive had us pulling up outside a few derelict buildings and an old Mill, as we parked up I noticed some lovely old commercials, we walked around the building trying to find the son also named (Kevin) we found Kevin at the back of the Mill, we introduced ourselves to each other and we were led into the first barn, this barn contained Jaguars, a silver shadow 11, a 40s Wollseley , a Bedford flatbed truck with an old Austin taxi on the back, I started to talk to Kevin to try to gauge what he was looking for for the whole collection.
it was at this time that Kevin said “well I’m having an open day soon” I said what do you mean? I can’t buy these cars today? He said “no I’ll be asking people for sealed bids, then I’ll put the bids on the windows of the cars for people to out bid, once bid I will ask for a deposit, this deposit will be handed back if you’re outbid and a deposit then taken off the higher bidder”
well I’m out!
I can see this ending up in a fight at the very worst, Kevin stated that he had asked the police to come to keep the peace…..
utter madness.
we had a prolonged chat with Kevin to try to help him see the errors in his system.
it’s a real shame that the kids got In there and vandalised the vehicles, the good news is they were caught and are facing prosecution.
we will see if I can be successful in purchasing any of this collection.
